Silicon steel production involves precise chemistry control (0.5–3.2% Si) and specialized processing. For non-oriented (CRNGO) grades, the hot-rolled coil is pickled, cold rolled, and annealed at 800–850°C in a wet hydrogen atmosphere to decarburize and grow grains. For grain-oriented (CRGO) grades, the process includes hot rolling, normalization, cold rolling to intermediate gauge, annealing, final cold rolling, and a secondary recrystallization anneal at 1200°C to develop the Goss texture. An insulating coating (C0–C6) is applied. Key parameters include core loss (W/kg) and magnetic induction (B50), tightly controlled through annealing atmosphere and temperature profiles.
