Galvalume/AluZinc Steel Coils (brand name Galvalume or AluZinc) are high-performance corrosion-resistant coated steels. The coating composition is approximately 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon, combining the superior durability of aluminum with the sacrificial protection advantages of zinc. Compared to ordinary galvanized coils, their corrosion resistance is typically 2-6 times better, while also offering excellent heat resistance and heat reflectivity, making them a premium material choice for building roofs, walls, and high-temperature environments.

Galvalume coils are produced on a coating line similar to CGL but with a different molten metal bath. The bath composition is 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. The cold-rolled substrate is cleaned, annealed, and immersed in the Al-Zn-Si bath at approximately 600°C. The silicon addition inhibits excessive growth of brittle Fe-Al intermetallics. After coating, air knives control the coating weight (e.g., AZ50, AZ100). The strip is cooled, and may be skin passed or chromate passivated. The resulting coating combines the barrier protection of aluminum with the sacrificial protection of zinc.
